JMO, but definitely not. I'm not a big fan of fake vents... and having them in that location doesn't even make sense to be honest. What could you possible be venting in behind the quarter window? 8)

+1 for no useless add-ons ... that said I always loved the look of your FUNCTIONAL shaker ... if you'd have asked ... I'd ahve questioned it on a non-Pontiac but seeing it done .... looks pretty sweet on the Chevy ... definately better than the done to death 4" cowl hoods ... did I mention props for it functioning!

Wow dude. It seems that a lot of your ideas for cars are bad. So ... I suggest thinking of the worst ideas you can to modify your car, chances are they're probably good ones! 8) Maybe your brain is just wired wrong. Good ideas are bad, bad ideas are good.

Don't take that the wrong way though. I'm not trying to be mean at all. Some people just don't have good taste/ideas. My wife for instance is horrible at picking out cloths that match (something most women excel at). Sad to say I have to be the one in the house to answer the question "does this match?" ... hahaha

on second thought, the scoops might work .... what you need to add:

Mopar grabber hood scoop, superbird wing, quarter window louvers (with no louvers on the back window), Testrossa style driver's side mirror, and some 1950s Buick style fender vents .... oh and your choice of mis-matches rims ... ofcourse I expect all body mods to be completely unfuctional and preferibly applied with double sided sticky tape and exposed rivits.

Thanks for the kind words! I also usually like to keep with the brand theme, but I always wanted to do the shaker on my Monte since I bought it... had the scoop years before I had the spare hood to attempt the project. I also love the look of a hood tach and fender vents, but I figure my car would get identity crisis if I went any further LOL I would do a hood tach though if they weren't so darn pricey.

And yes, there was no way I was bolting it to the underside of the hood, and it also had to be a functional air intake - I think it's embarrassing GM made the later shakers a purely cosmetic item.

Plenty of real muscle cars had fake vents/scoops/etc., but I really don't understand why they didn't take it the extra step to make them functional? Some are so obviously fake that it's plain tacky, even from the factory.

oh I agree ... GM did a lot of tacky things ... In my opinion the "ricer" look is nothing new. GM started it with the GTO Judge. Tasteless graffics and plenty of non-functional plastic (yeah I expect some flaming from Pontiac fans). Friend of mine has a 67 GTO convert - I keep telling him we need to open that scoop and build a RAM air out of it.
