Silverado 5.3

I appreciate all the info for fixing this but since its covered under the GM warranty its going to be the dealers problem.
I almost bought a '17 leftover right before I picked this truck up. The dealer knocked $11K off the sticker. The sales manager lives in my town. He worked for a local Chevy dealership for years. I started buying trucks from him at that place in 1990. Between 4x4 pickups and SUVs for my wife I bought a total of 11 vehicles from them but GM shut them down when all that crap happened a few years ago. Kinda pissed me off since they were only 10 minutes away. Now hes the manager of a larger dealership about 30 minutes away. Ive had stuff done there in the past so I hope they do the right thing.
Time will tell.

Good grief, while I don't like the Gen 3 and 4 5.3 in trucks, I thought they were bulletproof. Apparently not😳. How are the direct injection motors holding up? His 13 isn't correct? I know the Hemi's have issues, 3.6 are bulletproof, curious how reliable the Etorque paired with it, is for Ram. Sounds like a Ford 5L V8 is the way to go for a truck, more horsepower and low end torque than the 5.3.

The thing with the 5.3 is if you catch its BS early on, it will continue to run forever. You just have to know what to look for.

I've seen the pump and injectors need to be replaced on several with direct injection. Also seen the dealer guess at the misfire issue and change the pump and injectors. AFAIC I'm not wanting a direct injection unit, and there is no good reason to ever not perform a DOD/AFM delete unless fuel economy is your main concern.

My dad bought a new diesel GMC Sierra last year and it has been in 6 times so far with recalls. I bought a new F250 in 2015 and its got just under 50,000 miles and not one problem so far. Knock on wood.
Yours is a as engine I'll bet? All diesel pickups are upon obsolence IMO. Buy a diesel if you need 800ft/lbs of torque and you don't mind see it sitting at a dealer. They all are unrelieable - def system and aftertreatment in exhaust have increased the amount of electrical components by double.

Yes 4 of the recalls were engine related the other was a window issue and other I dont remember. He pulls a 5th wheel.

The Ford 5L is port and direct injection now, a good thing. What isn't good is they are DOD for 2021.

The big stuff is equally as bad. Our Freightliner fuel trucks are junk.
