Single Pipe Exhaust Question

Ok. I'm apprehensive towards a dual setup because I really don't want to have to get the double hump cross as I'm dealing with a university budget.

I'm only looking to get my car to around 200-270hp with the 305. I'm thinking of just getting an intake, vortecs, cam, exhaust upgrade and maybe an engine rebuild. Of course, a nice 350 at the right price could change my plans though... Hopefully by the time I install those parts a 350 turns up.

If you have access to a grinder/welder (or know someone that does) and can get some rectangular tubing like I did, you can have a dual-hump crossmember for the fairly cheap cost of materials/labor (for me it wound up being about $30 including the gas $ of driving around for said materials/labor). Just measure, measure, measure, test fit, measure some more, then cut. Mine went without a single issue, and bolted right in place.

Nice job! Looks good.

I will clarify that my car has dual mufflers and dual tailpipes. Right now it lacks a true dual setup, but I am considering a switch to dual cats mounted side by side in the stock location, instead of running it the normal way and buying a new crossmember. I too am doing this on a VERY tight budget, so that is all much later down the road. Right now, I will be quite happy to have a running, driving Cutlass with most of it's options functioning. I figure it should be usable with the A/C, cruise control and some details still not finished by the end of this week.
