Hey guys i wanted to post this here to see if anyone can help me out. So about 3 weeks ago i went in for a smog check  and my car failed @ the 15mph the max is 763 and my car read 1372 way over and for the 25 mph max 791 and i was at 1275 FAIL so the technician said bad Cat and Egr so i replaced the cat 200$ and egr as well i took it in for a retest this morning and failed again for the 25mph this time my score was even higher at 1643 he did not give me any hints this time i aced the 15mph. So if any of you guys have any info in what it can be it will be highly appreciated. Stock 305 5.0 no upgrades fresh tune up.

surprised the cat didnt help! i have a "dummy" cat on mine all year until testing and then put a fresh cat on for testing, just did it a few weeks ago and the guys said it had better numbers then most new cars..... have you changed plugs, wires, dist cap rotor ect..?? what about the smog pump? personally mine is not hoooked up so not sure if it helps or hurts... could also try running some system cleaner through it on higher octane gas to try and burn out any "dirt" best of luck!

ouch, sry cant think of much else that would cause to fail. i've heard timing can be an issue but i'd imagine you would have other issues if the timing was that far off.. hope some of the vets can chime in here and help ya out. good luck.

I would remove the EGR and see what's there. Transmission fluid cleans carbon pretty well
