I've been shearching for headers with smog provisions for my 78 elcomino 350. that will pass calif smog check. is there such a thing ?

Edelbrock used to make what they called their "Tubular Exhaust System" for the A/G body cars with the SBC engine. It is designed to replace the factory exhaust manifolds and front exhaust crossover pipe, and go into a single catalytic converter in the factory location, and this setup is CARB certified. The only thing is, I don't think that they're producing this kit anymore. You'd have to check with them, or on their website. Hope this helps.

Nobody make smog legal header anymore. Edelbrock and Hooker used to both quit a couple years ago.

but there is a cure for that...

I called J&M speed center in riverside. they say headman 68317 is 50 state legal. carb e.o. number d-167-7

I have a set in the box from Edelbrock, 50 state legal C.A.R.B. approved, that have never been used, that I am about to put up on ebay, my state does not require me to have them.So my 86 MC SS will go old school. Also headman 68317 headers are NOT 50 state legal, no smog tubes.

they are but with a caveat...

1975 through 1979 including vehicles with production date to 12-31-79, registered as 1980, non-feedback systems only are 50 state legal.

In Hot Rod magazine (Nov. 2014 Pg.155 in Parts & Stuff) "Legal G-Body Headers"! Hedman Hedders has a set of headers that maintain the factory catalytic-converter locations (the picture they show doesn't have a cross-over pipe, FWIW) and A.I.R. injection. 50 state emissions legal under C.A.R.B. EO#D-167-33, for 305ci., 307ci., and 350ci. v-8 engines. They have 1 1/2" primaries with 3-inch ball-style collectors. The "elite" headers have thicker 14-gauge primaries and 3/8" thick flanges. ,,, Bare finish price: $480.07 (I assume that's not the "Elite" headers). ... The picture shows four into one long tube design. ... My wife says our scanner is on the fritz, so I can't show a picture!!!
