check to see if you've gotten a oil leak spring up on your v/cover gaskets... sounds like you may have some of the burn-off smoke getting past the cowl rubber and into the a/c intake... don't know why the smoke would only appear on one side of the heat/air settings though...

double check your antifreeze level as well, in case your sense of oil smell is different than others'. :wink:

that is what happened to my car. A previous owner put alot of miles on the car with it leaking a ton of oil from the valve covers.
Now there is almost a permanent burnt oil smell inside the car, which gets worse when air is blowing thru the vents

My '81 Monte did that one side thing. it was both a leaking vale cover gasket and the heater core. :wtf:
