GM. Crate engine. 350 4 bolt main. has MAYBE 50 miles on it

Broke it in on used plugs, I know not the best idea, but it worked.

Used Starter

Used Water Pump

Used Alternator

Used Fuel Pump

So Im going through it, I took out the electronic advance distributor replaced with Vac Advance. I get 5 out of 8 new wires cut and crimped with new boots MSD street fire wires. Step dad says hey throw youre old wires on and move it to the other side of the yard, so I do. I put the timing back to where it was previously and it starts.

So anyway I get to the other side of the yard finish with new wires plugs cap rotor and distributor swap go to start it

AAAANNNDDD the starter takes a sh*t.......

Go figure

When I did my motor swap I did it at a friends house. We had some problem(I can't recall exactly what) and while we were working on it I suggested I might as well put a brand new starter in since we were under the car. My buddy mocked me saying I waste too much money fixing things that aren't broke. Next time we went to work on it, starter took a sh*t.

Why does every single one of us on this forum have to love such an expensive hobby? Lol

And on that note your buddy should know that building cars is not cheap, so the Xtra pocket change for a starter is really nothing when you get in the mix of things.

It's called "Murphys quantum law"...

pfft.. I call it Tuesday.. or Wednesday .. or the day my car dies at work and I have no wheels to get to the parts store for a simple $2.00 part to get it up and running again. I leave mine parked now until I have a positive attitude towards fixing it rather than a negative one about what's broken now

Best be buying a water pump, alternator and a fuel pump then. lol Small things like that love to leave you stranded in the most inopportune situations. Oh your 2 hrs away from home and it's 5 until midnight...Fuel pump!

helll yeah, definitely buying the new parts one paycheck at a time lol. I just didnt expect the starter to go -just- yet. the car isnt even tagged and registered yet, i threw old plates on it to move it from one garage to another lol.......... Oh and trust me, I did go ham on the starter, my persuaders didnt do too much persuading lol.

That's what I tried explaining when I got talked into NOT doing it. Learned that lesson.
