Hey guys just wondering if any one out there is running solid motor mounts on there car and if so do you need to run a solid mount on the transmission. I have a 350 motor and trans in my car and i'm having trouble with the cross member it needs to be moved forward alot. I moved the motor back to the next hole and when i did that i put solid mounts on it got the trans closer but still way off any suggestions would be appreciated.

I prefer to run a poly trans mount with solid engine mounts. Theoretically a solid trans mount should be fine with solid engine months but I don't want to take the chance of cracking the trans. With the poly, if there is a slight amount of movement then it will at least give a little.

thanks for the suggestion thats kinda what i was think to i figured the motor isnt going anywhere so therefore the trans shouldn't either so it shouldn't matter what mount i use on the trans. some one at a parts store told me if i didn't use a solid mount on the trans to it would crack, i thought he was full of sh*t.

Sounds to me like the crossmember needs to be replaced with the correct one for your transmission
