I think on your car you might pull it off, but i will warn you it is a b*tch to cover with unless you man up and buy the good vinyl that is stretchable.
 
i did that on my gp dash as well when i put in my sunpro gauges
 
How did you do the black? Is that a vinyl sticker over the wood, or does the wood peel off or something?
 
im thinking he eather steamed the sticker off or just scuffed it up and painted it. imo it looks very nice. carbon fiber is like kids, fun when there not yours. :lol:
 
Looks great! This is one of the first things I did with my '84 SS when I had it. Personally, I really dislike woodgrain and have never understood why auto manufacturers feel compelled to put it in so many cars.

As mentioned - in a Cutlass it's even worse as there are three different shades/styles in the same car! ...my parent's 87 is like this. I really like the 87 442 trim, but good luck finding some at a decent price.
