(BTW, I am of partial Russian ancestry.)

I so want to go there and get a shell for an interesting new project. Probably one of the ZAZ Zaprozets. Being Rear engined (kind of like a Soviet version of a Beetle, Corvair or Tatra), I could put a small FWD powertrain in it and have an "interesting" daily driver. BTW, one of these was driven by the CIA agent in "Goldeneye", IIRC. (Better than the US Godzilla movie that used a Corvair van to represent a Russian one!)

Is it bad that I can identify various cars of numerous countries that I have never actually been to or seen in person?

But my all-time favorite shitbox is this: the Sashcrang Trebant P601. As fast 0 to 60 as a 231 V6 2 bbl G body, with a 18-25hp inline twin air cooled 2 stroke engine driving the front wheels, it is an oddball. When it was designed in the 50's, it would have compared well against some western micro cars like the Fiat 500, VW Type 1 (25hp originally) and Citroen 2CV-all of which had air cooled engines. But, it was built for over 30 years as proof why Communism sucks so bad. The body is unique too, as it uses a steel monocoque with body panels made of a plastic called Duroplast (Kind of like a Fiero). It is made by using recylced cloth fibers with a formica like plastic. It has been called the most polluting car ever made. Further proof why you should NOT vote for the Democrats this year!

I was at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2006. They had the old U2 Zooropa "Trabant" hanging off the ceiling there.

Also, my brither in law has a fiance in Hungary. She remembers when her family had a Trabant (they still have the owners manual published in Hungarian). It had a 4 speed manual with column shift. BTW, the Germans disallow them on the Autobahn.

Not sure about the Trebant being the most polluting car ever made... when I was in grade school a neighbor had a 2 stroke Saab 96- now THAT was a snap-crackle-pop little smoker! We used to snicker at that thing every time we watched the guy start it 😀 BTW, that is definitely one of the much nicer looking Russian women :lol:
