I put some nice 14x7 Rally IIs on my 86 GP. Unfortunately, the backspacings on some some were different, although just a little bit. It was hard enough to get a matching pair, so I took the next two I could find. On my front left wheel, the clearance between the rim and the nearest part is about 3/8 or 1/2 an inch. I'd like to have it just about an inch, as on the right side. On some bad bumps or dips on the highway at speed I can hear a little "boonk" sound. Probably the balance weight bumping something; I think it's the shield that protects the ball joints or whatever it is beyond that shield above the disc (it's not hitting the tie-rod end at the bottom). Well, I don't want a real nasty bump to tear off my suspension if this clearance isn't enough.

So, is there a spacer, say 1/2" (or even a quarter inch) that I can buy and throw on there between the hub and the wheel? That'll push the rim out that much farther and get it set closer with the right side.

Any links or ideas would be appreciated 8)

I used 1/2" spacers to fit my 15" snowflakes on my Bonnewagon. The inner lip of the rim was scratching the edge of the control arm. However, I also replaced the lug bolts with longer ones so there is plenty of thread in the lug nuts, something often overlooked.
