Re: Spark plug sockets for hard to get plugs:The Problem Sol

Old tools are awesome. They were built to work AND LAST!
I couldn't care less about chrome, it's just an added expense.

I think the wrenches we're coming up with that work have a 75 degree angle and a deep offset, a little hard to come up with these days.
DEEP offset is the key!

I agree- the old tools are awesome. I like the patina- Newer stuff just doesn't seem to last. I replace on average 2 rachets per year and a couple screwdrivers. My dad has had Craftsman stuff from the 1960's and 1970's and he almost never replaced them unless they exploded. They really didn't "wear out" like they do now.

That's very true. It's a little thing called "Planned Obsolescence". It helps keep us spending our money, borrowing from banks, and updating sooner than we should have to.

Yeah, I'm pretty sure mines a craftsman from the 60's or older- the lettering on it is awesome compared to the modern ones.

I just scored one of those today at a garage sale. It's exactly the same angle, length, and offset as my other one.
My unknown brand is 5/8 - 3/4 and the Craftsman is 5/8 - 11/16.
