can anyone tell me engine and transmission specifics on my car an 85 gp le 305 3spd auto can you tell me if the auto is a good transmission and the horsepower and the heads on the car thanks for any info

if you are looking for specifics, a vin number can help. It tells exactly what you have. I have a 85 gp le also. I have a service manual that i used to look up my vehicle specifics. Originally, my gp was a v6. My son dropped a 87 v8 with a 3 speed auto. Shortly, I will be registering it in nj for qq plates. It will be a nice work in progress. I found it interesting to see where my gp was made and all its original specs. My vin revealed the gp was made in Canada. Sounds like you have a good start with what you have. Mike

My grand prix was also built in Canada and came equipped with the 305 and 3spd trans. I s there a website you can look up your vin? Also do any of your cars have the cornering lamps on the lower front fenders?? post pics of your cars thats 3 just here. I will try later or you could click on my photobucket link and my photoalbum 🙂 As for the drivetrain i replaced it with a 350 and a 2oo4r trans. If i remember it came with 160 hp from the factory.

1985 Grand Prix info
305 4BBL V8(LG4)
HP- 165
torque- 245
THM 200 Metric transmission first gear 2.74:1 second 1.57:1 third 1:1
Rear axle ratio code GH2 2.29:1
Optional THM 200R4 overdrive automatic trans first gear 2.74:1 second 1.57:1 third 1:1 fourth .67:1
rear axle ratio code GU2 2.41:1

Check your spid label on your inner trunk lid for axle ratio code as above because an optional rare GU4 3.08:1 ratio was available with the V8 but few every had this. That ratio made for a far quicker car.
