Does anyone Know what speedometer cable gear would be used for a 78 Monte Carlo with a Saginaw 4 speed and 3.23 rear gears? I am changing from 2.73 rear gears to the 3.23`s. The motor is a 305.

Speedometer gears are color coded to match the rear axle. G.M. parts dept should be able to look the correct gear for you.

I believe the speedometer gears were the same for any of the 4-speed trans. Saginaw,T10,M20 etc.
G.M. parts should able to tell you what you need with out the guess work. Just need too tell them what rear gear you're using.
