speedometer cable replacement?

best way I have found is use a piece of string or light guage wire and tape it to the old cable then pull it thru the firewall tape it up to the new cable and pull it right back into place like 5 min or less... if you just pull it out you will play hell getting it back in thru all the nooks and crannies in the dash :evil:
so i dont have to pull the cluster to disconnect it from the gauge?

Yeah you do and if you don't use the trick that slick79wgn said to do, it will be a little frustrating getting the new one in!
 
i pulled my cluster out disconnected the cable and pulled it out the firewall..and the same thing when i reinstalled it i had no problems..
