my speedo reads about 5 mph over what it should and its making a weird noise, does anyone know how to repair this?

The weird noise is probably lack of cable lubrication or a speedometer about to quit. 5 mph off is either from a wheel size change or other component change. Was anything changed to cause this or it came out of the blue?

it just came out the blue.

Cold weather can bring this on as well.

On my old Malibu wagon, when it got cold, the speedo needle would bounce back and forth violently until it warmed itself up.
As a result, the needle spun itself on the speedo head and read about 10 mph faster than I was actually going...

Lubing the cable should remedy the noise.

do you have cruise control? cruise control means you have a two-peice speedo, you'll need to lube four ends instead of two.

Replace the cable's, the inside of the casings get wear patterns worn in them. Lube them well before installing them. Then go from there.

how would i access this cable, i have cruise control but it doesnt work because some one pryed the button out the end, is the cable connected in the transmission?

You can get a new longer cable that bypasses the cruise. The cable is screwed onto the trans and comes right off. The other end is clipped onto the backside of the speedo. That usually means removing the dash bezels and reaching behind to press the release tab. Sometimes it's easier to pull the speedo away from the dash to get at it. Measure carefully the total length you need and check Rockauto or other store for an exact replacement.
