You can get a new longer cable that bypasses the cruise. The cable is screwed onto the trans and comes right off. The other end is clipped onto the backside of the speedo. That usually means removing the dash bezels and reaching behind to press the release tab. Sometimes it's easier to pull the speedo away from the dash to get at it. Measure carefully the total length you need and check Rockauto or other store for an exact replacement.
