speedometer too slow

Hi guys !!
I just received the 17 tooth driven gear and tried to put it instead of the 35 tooth but it is not compatible !!!
I think the 17-22 tooth driven gear and the 34-39 driven gear can't be exchanged because they are not compatible. They don't have the same housing, the same length and the same width !

I think I will keep my 35 tooth driven gear and order a 19 tooth drive gear like there :
http://www.ebay.com/itm/19-Tooth-Sp...ash=item1a15a74937:g:yjUAAOSwGIRXZsLI&vxp=mtr
instead of my 9 tooth drive gear to get the proper 0.54 ratio.
It's worse for me because I will have to pull out the driveshaft so it should be more difficult.. but I will try !

That stinks, but pulling the driveshaft is no big deal. Just be careful the caps don't fall of the U-joints or needle bearings can go everywhere.

Wrap tape around the U-joint while the shaft is out to keep the caps in place,

Hi again !! I finally succeeded in pulling out the back of the trans and changed the drive gear.
Now it works good, the speed is still a bit slow : it shows 53 kph when I drive at 60 !
Strange because I should have the perfect ratio.. ?
Maybe I'll get used to it or if it bothers me I will change the 35 tooth driven gear by a 34 tooth in the future !
thanks !

Hello guys !!
I come back to you because I had a noise coming from the floor like "tic tic tic", and it's frequency related to the speed of the car.
At first it was more or less quiet, but few days ago I had transmission oil leak under the car, It was the speedo cable which was unthightened. I thightened it, and now the noise is loud like "TIC TIC TIC".
I jacked up the car, disconneted the speedo cable, and put in drive mode, there was still the noise, and if I put my hand where the the speedo cable connect, I feel the strong vibrations corresponding to the noise.
I withdrew th driven gear, and no vibrations nor noise anymore !
What do you think it can be ?? I have to change drive and driven gear ?

thanks a lot !
Mickey
