My speedo is about 5 mph off I have pulled the needle and moved it up but it seems to drop back to about 5 mph off. I have noticed that when stopped it drops about 5 mph below the 0 mph mark. My question is do they all do this the needle dropping that far below the 0 mph when parked or stopped

so when yer going 5 mph it shows 0 mph? may be ya need eather the lil pin that stops it at 0 mph or its time to check ebay or craigslist for a new or used one. just my $0.02.

beermonkey may be right. the best way to check the speedo is to drive the car on a straight marked highway with a timer. do 30mph indicated and time how long it takes to cover 1 marked mile. then do the same at 60mph. then just use the time to figure out your actual speed and compare. make sure you're at speed when you start the timer, and do as many runs as possible. (quick tip, 30mph=2min/mile and 60mph=1min/mile) if both are exactly 5mph off, then you've lost your gauge calibration. if it's a certain percentage off, it' probably an incorrect speedo gear.
have you changed the rear axle at any point, or put in a different trans?

is there suppose to be a pin I know it does not have one. I had it checked when they did the Emissions test it was 5 off all the way to 55. I also have a snap on reader it shows 5 off all the way though.

Actually the best way to test the accuracy of your speedo is to take it to a specialist and have it tested. If you don't know where to go to have this done just contact the Police as they are usually required to have the speedos in their cruisers calibrated periodically. Calibration costs big time but a simple check is fairly inexpensive.
