Sorry can't help with install I have never installed any. You will have a reply with help shortly, from many that have. Can I see a pic of the square mirror you are removing. I might be interested in buying it.

The Gbody sport mirrors fit in the same spot and use the same mounting holes as the chrome square mirrors, you didn't mention what your car is or what the sport mirrors are off of but you will need the proper gasket for your car to fit the sport mirrors.

I am guessing those both use the same mirror base gasket, if you don't have holes for a passenger side mirror take the upper door panel off and see if it has the reinforcement plate welded on the inside of the door skin if you have access you could use that as a guide to drill holes for the passenger side.

Thanks for the help I'll try that this week hopefully tomorrow after work lol !

Tony,
The later style '86 +sport mirrors are mounted to the upper bodyline on the Malibu and/ or El Camino. You'll definitely need the El Camino base gaskets...they have the proper mounting angle.
You will have to drill new holes as 565bbc has stated...and of course weld up the old mirror holes.
You will have to add reinforcement plates to at least the passenger side....the driver side has one that you will be able to drill thru...if I recall correctly.

I would suggest removing the studs from the mirror bases, and with help from a friend, place the mirror in the best position...outline the bases and use the gasket as a template to drill the new holes.
Pretty simple.
