Hey guys has anyone ever swapped a regular cluster out to a Monte ss cluster or a Dakota gauge cluster. I'm considering doing this but have no idea about how to do so.

I know Mike'sMontes sells the clusters. He may be able to tell you what else is needed.

You're already down the right path with the round gauge cluster. You can scour EBay or solicit the Forum for donor parts. OPGI will sell you the correct flexible printed circuit for the back, and even the missing center cluster gauges. The tach bolts right in. Use the wire diagram posted above. A lot cheaper than the Dakota kit at $700. Ask nicely and one of our Canadian members might be able to provide you with a metric 200km/hr speedometer. Black out the km/hr and get a gear drive to correct the speedo, and you have a 200 mph G-body...

thank you guys. my cluster looks very plain and boring. lol. I feel a nice cluster makes an interior

You have the warning light cluster now...you will have to change out the complete cluster to one with full gauges. The housings are not the same.

The one pictured below is for the warning lights. In this pic the clips have been removed for the fuel gauge..upper left center. The other holes are where the bulbs go for the warning lights.

here's a pic from the back side..

in the pic above the metal clip (circled in red) is what is used for gauge contact. The light (circled in yellow) is the bulb for the warning light.

Here's a pic of a full gauge clsuter...

from these pics you can see how many clips are required for the gauge contacts.

Once you've got the full gauge cluster the link V8 Rumble posted is a good link for re-pinning the cluster harness as the two are not the same.

Hope this helps.

You can also put a 4 inch tachometer inside the cluster instead of the clock or worn tach.
By the way, stock tach is easy to repair, but i don't know what's behind your super-tach.
