I got one better. See If you can find a switch pitch. It allows you to have two stall speeds. They make them for the GN when the guys put a th400 trans in the car. Then you have normal driving without having a high stall all the time. Makes the car more fun to drive on the street by the way.
I had one of those in my 65 GTO years ago. Never had so much fun on the street as that. Connected it to a switch under the dash, when it was on, I could take my foot off the brake and the car would not even move, but press the gas and hang on.

Ive had lock up converters but never a switch pitch. In all honesty i didnt know those exsisted. Are those cheaper than a lockup??

Doubtful. They were only made for a few years back in the Sixties for the Super Turbine 300 two-speed and Super Turbine 400 (special TH400) transmissions. That makes them pretty obscure and you'll find that hardly any performance converter companies even mess with them.

They are actually hard to find. GM made them in the 60's and early 70's in powerglide and turbo 400. The original design was for passing or trucks when you push the gas to the floor it would operate a switch and change the flow of fluid to separate vanes in the convertor. You would instantly have a convertor that went from about 2500 stall to about 3500 maybe even higher, not sure. It was a special trans and required a special convertor.
