Well maybe two questions right now....

I remember reading and speaking to a guy about what I needed to do in the column to get the reverse light to come on etc.... Something about the shaft running down it? It's a column car now but that's going away to floor shift with the 60. Basically what's involved in general?

Also all the crap on the passenger wheel well...... What can I do without?

Well believe it or not, the oe floor shift cars used the same linkage as the column shift cars. I would employ it as it will control your reverse lights. You retain steering lock out in park or maybe you can appreciate the inability for the steering to lock out while the vehicle is in motion when some how the key inadvertently is turned off. It’ll also employ the park/neutral switch something the PCM is looking for.

I’ve never done one so I don’t know every detail but will venture a guess that the i.p. connection near the passenger floor would need most of those wires retained.

One little tidbit I recall is the a/c belt will come in contact with the frame. Notch it or hulk smash.

Good information right there i figured id have to make some kinda bracket to join the two together. The factory column and the factory floor shifter.
