i pulled my steering box out my 88 monte ss last winter cause i thought there was somthing wrong with it,the steering felt really sloppy, when i was out in the garge today and decided to see what the box was and its a saginaw but i really dont know anything else i can find any YA marking and just wanted to know some info on it and if its a quick ratio and if its worth rebuilding.

here are some pics of the markings that are on it

If the steering box is out of an '88 MCSS, it's most likely the quick ratio box, unless it's been replaced with the wrong unit. One sure way to tell is turn it all the way to the left and then to the right (lock to lock). It should be approx. 2.5- 2.75 turns.
Have you checked your suspension parts for wear? Center link, tie rod ends, etc. Worn rag joint perhaps. .or maybe your box needs an adjustment. Unless you get under there and physically and visually check everything, you won't know for sure.

As for the markings that indicate a quick ratio box (YA, etc.) they're usually stamped with ink and usually worn away.
