So im wanting a quick ratio steering box but not wanting to pay $350 bux or so for a new one, so i was thinking about buying an old one and getting a manual and rebuilding it. I am a beginner with mechanics, so my question is would this be something that is over my head or is it not too hard to do??

if I'm not mistaken I think I read in one of the threads a rebuilt quick ratio box from Napa was around $130.

I called NAPA and the dude said they have them for g bodies with "sport packages." I asked him if that mean GN 442 Monte SS, and he ASSUMED so, but didnt know for sure. He also didnt know what ratio they were. Im not buying something unless i know what it is. So back to my original question, is it an easy rebuild or something better saved for someone with more expierence? Anyone know anywhere else that sells rebuilt ones?

Any parts store that handles AA1 Cardone 27-6550 Is the correct gear box for an 83-84 Hurst Olds. And yes it will run about 130.00 direct bolt it. 😀
