I would not loop the lines. It will just be hard to steer while parking and not save but 7-10 lbs. The power box weighs 25 lbs, and I do not know the weight of the manual one.

I had been running a box with the lines cut for years and it was a pain to steer. I recommend upgrading to a manual s-10 steering box from an 84-92 s-10, make sure the arm is the same length and its a direct bolt in. After I installed that I could never imagine going with the power box not hooked up again, its a dream to drive now. Also it is lighter and smaller than the power box. my 2 cents. mer info here: http://www.maliburacing.com/faq.html#manual_steering
