Okay... so I think I planned my next stereo... I'm not sure.

4x Hifonics 6.5 components (2 in the Q-Logic Kick Panels, 2 in the panels above the rear arm rests)
plus of course 4 tweeters (2 in the kick panels, 2 above the arm rests)

JVC Double Din head unit (7 inch touch screen, removable face, navi, etc... don't have the model off hand)

2x DC Audio Level 3 12" Subs in a ported and tuned box...

unsure on amp(s)... a mono block for the subs, and a 4 channel for the speakers.. just not sure what to get...

and my other question, do you think the 4 6.5's would be better than say, 2 6.5's in the kick panels, and 2 6x9's under the package tray? I figured with the 6x9's gone, and the torsion bars for the trunk lid gone (swapped out for gas struts) I'd have more room to slide the box back farther to gain some trunk space..

I planned on putting one amp in the trunk, and one amp under the dash where the heater box used to be... I'm not totally set on that though..

The front factory location is a great place to mount your tweeters. That way they are up higher and give better imaging and separation than down low. Just get some aluminum plate and cut it out to sub-mount your tweets then paint or carpet them (to reduce reflection). The same can be done in the rears.

One good thing about having the 6x9's gone is if you have enough bass, they will tend to push up the 6x9's and can cause distortion and if pushed hard enough can ruin them unless you run baffles or similar. The bad thing with them gone, is your back seat passengers get heat and cold coming from the trunk and in the past I have had a problem with exhaust smell coming in through the trunk openings.

Since you are thinking of Hifonics for the mids, you might consider them for the rest. Years ago, I used to run Hifonics and they were brutes. I had an Isis on a pair of 12" kickers and it was insane for what it was. It wasn't until I went with a Solo-X 18" and a pair of ZX2500.1 amps before I had a system that hit harder than that old setup in my S-10 Blazer did...

If I mount the tweeters in the factory holes I'll have two empty spots in my kick panels.. they point up and at you so they should be ok...

Plus I've got two alarm sirens I'm going to put in the dash speaker holes.. nice wake up if somebody gets in and sets the alarm off.

The tweeters where the 6x9's go isn't a bad idea..

My opinion (and that's all it is, my opinion) keeping the mids and tweeters as close together as possible is the best set up. And the kick panels it the best place for them.

And why do you want so many sets? One good set along with your 6x9s and your subs will be more than enough. Unless you like driving around with earplugs.

With the angle of the kick panels, tweets sound fine, but if you put the tweets firing straight in on the rear sail panels, it won't sound right.

I did 4 tweeters in a perforated headliner install on my '79 Monte carlo years ago. That way they were up high and imaging was great.
I personally like speakers all around me. I also like more speakers playing less, rather than a few speakers being really pushed. But, I have done them both ways, and it largely depends on how you use it, the volume you play it at, and even the music you listen to. After 25 years of high-end audio, I am starting to ask huh a lot so I know I have played it too loud for too long. I just KNEW it wasn't going to happen to me...

haha, well there's only 4 speakers and 4 tweeters total... I might have worded something wrong... a 6.5 in each kick panel with a tweeter.. and a 6.5 above each rear arm rest (or lower sail panel, whatever it's called)... the rear tweeters, I haven't decided where to put them.. you are right about them not sounding right firing straight out.. I'll have to rethink that.

As far as amps go, I just traded a friend a brake job for a new Crunch PZA2000.1 Mono block, and a PZA900.4 4 Channel... so we'll see how they work..

I really want DC amps to go with my subs.. or Hifonics... but for a set of front pads, rear shoes, and labor... I couldn't pass up the Crunch Amps..

Now I just need a bunch of wire.... and a couple distribution blocks... and rca's....

I can maybe help you out with that. I have a BUNCH of old stuff, some unused, of mix and match from various vendors. Rockford Fosgate, Esotaric Audio, Pheonix Gold, Kicker, etc... I've got several relays from 100A to 300A, a battery isolator, a high-amp relay (used it in place of an isolator), distribution blocks, etc. If you are interested let me know. About the only thing I have other than a few misc speakers and that listed above is I have a very great Audio Control DQXS control and wired controller, and wireless remote. These are the best on the market, and have been for years... I also have several sets of Rockford (I think) RCA's, used about 6 months. I also have a new, but opened set of 4 channel Kicker RCA's, an 8" pair of 8 ohm Rockford Fosgate (OOOOOLLLLLLDDDDDD school - circa 1985), and a pair of Kicker CVR-10". Several sets of older Kicker tweeters, 2 pair of 4" Kicker mids, a pair of bi-ampable Kicker 6x9's, and other misc. stuff. If you aren't interested, maybe I should craigslist this stuff. I am 40 now, and while I still love good music, I am kind of over the high-end stuff.
