i have a steel hood off my 79 cutlass in great condition. already sanded and primed. only reason is because i switched to an aluminum one

Aren't the aluminum hoods super sensitive to denting?

Yep, sure are! It's one of those parts you have to accept imperfection with if you plan to use it. Which is hard for me, because I am a perfectionist when it comes to body work. The other bad thing is that if you do fill it, sanding the filler can cause it to dent further, thus making matters worse. The steel roof and trunk lid are similarly bad for working on as they have a very low crown.

I am in a bit of a quandary right now with my aluminum hood as it is not perfect, and I want to fix it, but am afraid I will only make matters worse if I try. I fixed one small dent that was noticeable, but the minor waves it has will never be perfect, and I just have to accept that in order to get the weight reduction.

Not my style. I have $750 worth of BASF Diamont base/clear in GM Navy Blue Metallic( so dark it's almost black!) waiting to go on the car, as well as mint condition stainless and polished aluminum trim. I also have over 400 hours in the body removing every single flaw I could find, and will have blocked and primed it at least twice before I am through. All in all, The body will probably consume the better part of 600-700 hours to get it the way I want it.
