Stumble, Bog, Poor Idle, Difficult Tune, Older Q-Jets

Something I mentioned in an earlier response to another post.

Potential issue with poor idle and sometimes difficulty getting a proper tune.

You will not see this much any more and not in any of the CCC Q-Jets, but just for basic information to file away in case you run across one of these.

As shown in the pics, ... Hot Idle Compensator... This was to adjust incoming air after engine was at operating temperature with a rich idle mixture. If you come across a Q-Jet with this, always check it if having idle problems.

It's a bi-metal spring that opens by engine heat and allows extra air, to combat run-on or poor idle of hot engine with rich idle mixture.

Good stuff, we need all of this to be documented and available for future reference. I don't know much about Rochesters but with your help I'm learning. Thank you!
