Summit exhaust

So the install is complete minus welding it up. But everything is clamped into place. Here are some photos.

First thing i did was lay the whole kit out and make sure it was all there.

Then I lifted the car as high as my stands would allow.

After that I started assembly according to the instructions provided with the kit.
First step was to bolt on the collector reducers. (the passenger side reducer was actually too long but lucky i had a shorter one laying around.)

Then slide on the center pipe to the muffler.

Then slide the muffler on.

I used the lag screws included in the kit to mount the hangers for the mufflers.

After some fighting with the axle I managed to get the rear section in place.
(I also had to cut about 4 to 6 inches from the passenger side pipe.)I slid the tail pipe in place to get an idea of wear to mount the hanger.

Did the same thing on both sides, clamped everything down and called it a day.

Pretty much the same way I did mine except I cut the tails short and welded on chrome tips. Looks good im glad it didnt give you trouble.

Those hangers will probably break fyi. When you weld it up, put a proper hanger on it. Every one of those bolt-on hangers has failed on me. And lol, I had to cut from the same area. Lookin sharp dude! good job 😀

The Summit exhaust kit look great and shouldnt be to hard for me to install, Im think about buying that kit for my 78 El Camino. Are the tail pips long enough to go to the bumper on the El Camino ? how`s the sound ?

I dont know about the fit on the elcamino i imagine it would fit fine.
The sound isnt bad but it is a bit too quiet with the kit mufflers IMO

Do you know what kind of mufflers come with these kits? I've got the same kit, but I always wondered what mufflers they were, since they dont have a name on the muffler
