I have a possible deal going for a 4speed super t10 trans. I have a small block now but Im going to swao in an LY6 down the road. Im just curious if I got the 4speed now and used for while behind the 350 and ls then later if I find the right deal on a T56 how hard would it be to swap it out? Will the bell housing? What will be involved in that swap?
Thanks in advance

With an SBC, the cheapest T56 you will find in the future will be an LT1 unit that has its own bellhousing, so you'd sell the bellhousing you have with the T10.

a "universal" T56 that uses a conventional bellhousing are relatively rare and about $800-$1500 more than a LT1 Box. If you go LY6 at a later date, there are guys that convert LT1 T56's to LS style.

So the basically the bell housing for the t10 wont work with a t56 is what your saying?
Hmm decisions decisions.

Correct, old school sbc bellhousings wont fit a T56.

Oh well, never an easy way out lol. I asked a few guys locally and they said the clutch set up cant even be used, basically nothing will be reused, ill be starting from scratch all over again if I find a t56. I guess Ill just stick to plan A and put in the 700r4 for now and If I find the right deal on a t56 Ill decide then
Thanks guys

if you find an ls1 t56, there is an adapter plate you can use to mount it to the sbc bell housing. and i believe use the stock clutch setup. then when you switch to the ly6, you'll need to switch to a hydraulic setup with appropriate bell housing.
