The wiper switch will have a different connector. the ignition switch connectors should be the same. You will have to change the wiper switch to an 82 for the wipers to work. I put an 84 tilt column in my 81 non-tilt car and did the same (deleted switch from dash, relocated to column using an 82 switch)

The wiper motors/switches changed how they work in '84, I believe.

It can work but the wiper switch in the column is different. Odds are you don't have delay wipers & that tilt does. Then there is the change in '84 with the wiper motor electrical set up.

The early system switched the ground (+12V to the motor and the grounds were made through the switch), the late column switched +12V.

The yellow wire on the later column went to +12V, if you ground it it will still do the same as the early switch on basic functions.

Does your existing system have a delay wiper motor? Does the donor column have the delay switch?

Without the delay it can be made to work easy. Likely can be made to work with the delay but will be more difficult.

Post a picture of the connector on your car and the connector on the new column.

Note your pictures have KIMG and a number in the file names.

Turn signal switch pic KIMG 1179 is the one on the car? Pic KIMG1184 is the new column? Note the 2 wires on the end are different colors Pink or Orange and black/white stripe on pic 1179 and Green (might have stripes on them) on pic 1184 think it is ok these wires go to cornering lamps. Might want to look into this further.

Wiper switch pic KIMG 1185 is the switch in the car now? Pic KIMG 1180 is the new column? Just want to be sure. Can you take a better picture of 1180? It appears from what I can see the new column still has the older type wiper switch in it. For example I do not see a yellow wire.

Try jumping these wires and see what you get. When the switch is in delay nothing will happen.

New column: -----------------------Existing wiring:

White-----------------------------------Black
Gray-------------------------------------Gray
Purple ----------------------------------Purple
Red---------------------------------------Pink
Green is delay so not used.
