taken care of plug + wires situation for now. the altenator tested good for now so i think it may be a ground to alt case issuse or maybe my 1 mystery wire  no not my fuse wiring, just an old patch i fear.

big thing now is getting the trans hooked up by some form of linkage to my GD  column shifter. i am still hunting around for linkage from a donor car that came with the 2004r since i have down research on it and belive its a 99% perfect fit. around me its like digging for gold in the desert. good luck chuck 😱 can someone help me out and tell me what they hooked up their OD trannies to/from when swapping from the turbo350 for example? or where they got their parts or did special. if you have any pics please post or email them to me.

thanks guys.

I used the stock linkage from my 350c when I hooked up the 200R4. The only thing I had to modify was the bracket for the console shifter which bolts to the same bracket as the column shifter .

axisg,

i hate to be a pita but can you take a few pics of what it all looks like under the car. just the frame/rods and then side of the transmission if you could and post them or email them to me? 😱

ok, i modified my 79 350 trans linkage plate with the rods of a 80's b body caprice that came with the 700r4. now i just need to tear into my shift colum to change the gear plate so i can get it into 1st gear.

i had my transmission built with all the servo goodies clutches and other soft/ hardparts stuff except for like aftermarket planetarys and such. my trans guy builds local trannies and does trannies at the local chevy garage. also had him throw in the b+m shift improver pack that had 2 settings of crap. put in the rv settings cause he said i wouldn't want the street/strip ones. ok. the dam thing shifts super hard into 2nd gear whether soft or hard on throttle. with any throttle i chirp the tires and lay rubber when 2nd comes in and when slowing down i must baby the car in decelerating otherwise it hits into 1st very hard also. we're talking neck snapping shifts! i have never been in anything shifting this hard before. this normal with a b+m 2k stall+ lockup(not wired in yet) on 3.42 out back with a locker? i have driven the car around the country for 250 miles now since motor and trans are on fresh rebuilds. on full throtle from a brake stop(keep in mind that this is with the 79 305 stock q jet carb  ) i get no wheel spin but the front lifts hard and the back squats like the tires went flat. 1st to 2nd shifts at 4k but when 2nd goes to 3rd its at only 3k rpm? if i shift it manually to let it upshift when i want it too on the 2 to 3 it feels like the trans binds or fights itself internally at 4k rpms and holds till i let off or upshift. wtf could that be? the tv cable is adjusted properly and i read up on sometimes it needs a little more so i grabbed the wire when at wot and pulled her out 2 more clicks per my transmission man advice. i dunno, we'll see what happens i guess.

last thing, i am running a 14x3'' drop base air cleaner with this performer rpm intake mani and its now too high i believe to fit under my stock 79 malibu hood. i have to run a 1/2'' spacer currently to clear the hei now so i think i need to go to a 1'' forward or norm drop base that goes low air cleaner. didn't plan on cutting the hood and i don't like the looks of thoses triangle foam looking air cleaners. when i look from fender to fender the carb just sits below the line. the 14x3'' cleaner now is about 2/3 - 3/4 under the line but not the forward part from the center rod. i maybe screwed on this one. 2 guys and another with an orange ss elky (looking) on here a while back claimed that it would fit but i forgot where that posting was or what cleaners was being used.

once again, all help is greatly appreciated guys.
