Whats up guys I got a 81 monte carlo that I am about to install a USED 83 z28 steering box. i was wanting to know is there anything special I have to do to get this gear box to fit and mount properly?

And also is it a good idea to try to rebuild this steering gear since its out of an 83?

Itll bolt right in,no mods needed.there will be no more turning the wheel with one finger.the quick ratio box is alot stiffer than the slow box.may need front end alignment to center the steering wheel.

You will need the pitman arm for a gbody with the 800 series box. Which is the one with the 4 bolts on the top like the z28 one. Otherwise nothing else. If you're thinking of rebuilding you may as well get a reman one from the autoparts store for a z 28 or monte ss, grand national.

Will the original pitarm work ?? Im not sure what series the box is but im pretty sure its the original one. Car has over 200,000 miles and the gear box has so much play in it hope this box will work til I get everything else on the car right.
