I'm going to order a spray can of vinyl paint though Vinyl Pro. I need to send them a sample to match, 1"ish at least, in my dash color, Dark Beige. I don't have anything in that color that I'm willing to cut up, and I'd prefer not to send a whole part & risking it breaking or not getting it back. So, do any of you have a small piece of something in "1981 Dark Beige" that you'd send to me, that I could send to them?

I sent a glovebox door to Anne Zolle at SEM when they were still doing color matching. I also sent a piece of siding to Vinyl Pro. Got both things back in one piece. I took the glovebox door apart so they matched the color to the plastic under the actual door. It was a perfect match since there was no fading.
Take the door, pad the heck out of it and Fedex overnight it.

See if they can cross reference another brand's formula code. Start off it looks as if your interior color GM code should be 63, Light Sandstone in my PPG book. The dash will be GM code 64, Dark Doeskin in the PPG book. The PPG code you'll need for the dash will be 24908 for semi gloss, 24927 for low gloss. If they need something for a sample for the color it might be better to be a part you can get another to replace just in case like the lower cover for the steering column..

Crikey. With your help I think I have it figured out. See attached PDF, follow the bouncing ball:

GM Trim #63D5 = Dark Beige 'appointments' (dash, etc.).
PPG #63 'appointments' color name = Dark Doeskin, codes 24908, 24927.
For some reason the color chip is numbered 64 instead of 63, but name & codes match (Dark Doeskin, 24908, 24927).
SEM GM code 63, name Dark Doeskin, SEM code 2621.

So I could ask for a custom mix, or take a chance on 2621. All I need to paint is a horn pad & I just don't want to spend a ton of money to do it.

Thanks!!!

As long as you remember regardless of how good of a match there will always be a slight variance in color, I'd order a pint of the 2621 & go. As for the SEM listing has it as 63 instead of 64, they might of been going with the primary color's code since it would of came with that darker color per GM's policy for '81 dash colors. Don't for get to order all needed cleaners & prep material too so everything sticks & last.
