BUILD THREAD Sweet Johnny & Gina: A Love "Two Large" To Fail

On that time lag thing, my Monte went into cold storage in 2010 and rolled into my garage in '12. That was 13 years ago and I am still whittling away at it. Too much other stuff keeps getting in the way, along with time dilation and budget shrinkage, and the periodic need to deal with health issues. So. At least my project and rolling stock maintenance count is low; for some folks around here, the project beget projects and the "just hadda buy it" orphan count is humungous.

Yeah, but mine's not a project, remember? I said that when this all began! 😀

Wee-ell, project is just the easiest way for me to describe it because it was my daily driver before I pulled it off the road to do some minor repairs that somehow transmogrified themselves into an ongoing saga. Five? previous owners had left it in barely useable condition but the 78 it replaced had a body that was only attached to its frame by the body mounts under the rad cradle!! It was so bad that it was slowly self-channeling itself down over that frame without any help from me. Ironically, the only things that I kept from it was that rad cradle, the seats, the wiring harness jic, and the engine; bit of sentimental value there as it came out of the only new car that I had ever been able to buy, and I still have it on a cradle under the south wall parts racks. The replacement doors that I had scored for it prior to discovering the extent of the deterioration still sit outside in a custom made packing crate that weights about 300 pounds. No body builds Monte's around here so for all practical purposes they are useless and valueless. and probably halfway back to being ferrous oxide after all this time.

No, you would be quite right and perfectly correct to think that I am not a shop or builder. For that around here you need to satisfy so much red tape and legal BS that it is not worth it. I don't even take in relatives, too much sniveling when it comes to settling costs.

Anyhow, you seem to have matters mostly back on track, and the board, as has been said, is always here as a back stop for the tough questions, or just some classic rock and roll.

Oh, you're definitely a builder and my car is a project if I've ever seen one. Thanks for regularly commenting and giving tips I can use!
