I don't know where you read that, but it's completely WRONG. As pointed out above, the Olds 350 has nothing in common with a Chevy 350. By the way, "Rocket" was a marketing term used on ALL Olds motors. It means nothing, however the number of people who continually think it's something special means that the marketing program was very, very successful.
 
Yeah, a 150 hp 350ci 2 bbl engine is not exactly what anyone but an ad agency would term a "Rocket"!
 
i do remember the thread he's talking about. off the top of my head---there are two "rocket" engines. your standard olds rocket engine and a GM "aftermarket" block. for marketing reasons they took a bunch of sbc's and cast them with the olds symbol in the block. i believe they were supposed to be race engines. of course i highly doubt that's what he has.
