since I've got the engine out right now, I've been thinking this would be a good time to change out the stock converter, and thought I'd get a couple suggestions...I'm an ex-mechanic, but all I know about auto transmissions is changing them

I'm running a warmed up 327 and 700r4(around 1984 vintage...not sure, it was in car when I bought it with a 305 conversion in it). It's been a while since I've driven it on the road, so I'm not sure if the lock-up is still functioning or not, but have thought about eliminatin it for the right converter. I wont be racing with it, other than run-what-ya-brung night, just to see what it'll do... also will probably be switching to 3:08 gears for awhile(think it's 2:14 in it now), and would like to keep it street friendly, as it will be a semi-daily driver.

money is a bit tight, but don't want to get cheap crap either... any suggestions would be helpful...

thanks!

I would keep the lock up if you are going to be driving on the street. It is not to bad to hook up and will help gas mileage.
