Tach or Shift light on Column

I feel the need to move my tach more in my line of sight. The steering column seems to be the best spot but not sure if I should drill into it. I know the screws would have to be VERY shallow!!! Wondering what others have done. Maybe a hose clamp? what you think???

I would use a hose clamp with double sided tape if I was to put it on the column. My $0.02

Large zip ties can be used as well. The kind used for HVAC ducting.
