need a high low bulb........running, then brighter when you brake

1157 is the bulb number..........sounds like your useing 1156 bulb

It is a different circuit than the brake lights. Test the circuit with a VOM starting at the taillights and moving back to the connector at the driver's quarter panel, and ending up at the connector at the driver's kick panel then the fuse panel.

Digging up an old topic. I had the same problem with my lights last night. Checked all the fuses which seem to be fine, but the letters to my fuse box are wore out so I'm not sure what's what. Any ideas? Bulbs or fuses?

There is typically a ground wire in the rear harness somewhere that goes bad when this happens so look for your rear light harness grounds and check them for rust or corrosion and if there is any clean then and cover them with the gel you put on your battery terminals to keep corrosion away.
Thanks I'll give it a try in the morning and see if it works.

So I checked the ground, fuses and changed the bulbs. Still nothing. Could the light switch be bad? It's all I can think of as to why the lights aren't working. Any other ideas?
