Have u used TCI-376600 lockup kit for 200-r4 application.
Does it work?
Whats your experience with it?

I wasn't way too impressed with it. Still had to install a switch to turn it off in hilly areas, as the vacuum it was set to activate the clutch at was too low. I figured it was a flaw with the vac switch they gave me, but the one they replaced it with did the same thing.

I thought it was a junk. Mine always activated way to quick. As soon as it shifter to 4th gear it would instantly go into lockup. It was terrible around town because at 35mph it would go into 4th gear and lug the engine badly.
There was no brake switch for it so the engine would want to stall/die as you were coming to a stop.

In town I ended up leaving the trans in 3rd gear to keep it from going into lockup.

I know there was supposed to be some modification you could make to the vacuum switch they had in the TCI kit if it was lugging the engine but I never bothered. It was just easier to keep it in 3rd gear.

Save your money and go with the B&M kit or something similar to it. We installed the B&M lockup kit in my brother's '81 and it always worked great. Instead of vacuum operated its speed actuated using a speed sensor run off the speedometer cable.
With a slider switch you can adjust at what speed the converter locks/unlocks (between 50-90mph).

The only thing that would make the B&M kit better would be to integrate the brake switch into it.

i have been looking at that one for a while now i just got a toggle switch runing it and its rigged to kick off with my brakes i was wondering how does it know when to kick it off when u step down on it and it downshifts?

I've used the TCI kit and will agree that the vacuum switch didn't work very well. Caused it to stutter in and out of lockup so I took it out. I then ran a switch to turn on/off lockup. It kicks out of lockup when accelerating by coming off the 4th gear pressure switch or by pressing the brakes. I bought a B&M kit but found I didn't want to have a control panel in the car to set it. I guess I could have installed the panel in the engine compartment or somewhere hidden.

My latest install is using a Bowler lockup kit. It has a single power wire coming off the brake switch for lockup. It used the 4th gear pressure swith to complete the circuit. I like that it waits 8 seconds after 4th gear kicks in to lockup the converter. A tap of the brakes gives you 8 seconds of unlocked action for passing, hills, etc. It's an easy install, is well put together, but completely overpriced. It should easily be a third of the cost.

I'll put some miles on the car this summer (hopefully) and will update as I gain more experience with the kit.

Well, as said, the trans will only lock in 4th gear based on the pressure switch. When it down shifts, it disengages the clutch.

Im going to go with the b&m kit because of the controls that it has

I have a 87 Monte Carlo SS 200R4 transmission, I did the non CC carb and distributer.... i bought the tci lock up kit but it looks like i made a bad choice 😳 so can i still drive the car WITHOUT the lock up kit for a week or so until my B&M kits gets here??? :?:

I used the B&M, installed it probably 5 or 6 years ago, and no problems, and very controlable with the slider switch. And I thought (from my memory) that the brake switch was integrated, Im almost positive I wired it in per the directions.
