Okay so I talked to my transmission guy(professional with 25 years experience) and I brought up the TH250C... Upon discussion he said that they are virtually the same exact transmission minus a few small differences. Number one being the outside band adjustment behind the cooler lines. And number two being that it only has one less clutch pack.(whoop-dy do). Now my question is, if these are the only differences between the th250c and the th350 why does everyone hate them so much? And couldn't you just use a stall converter with a 250 vs the electronic lock up from the factory? Just figured I'd pick everyone's knowledge base and hear your thoughts.

I always thought it was because they came with 4 cyl motors and therefore considered weak and/or not worth building.
I know way back when we were gutting a stock Vega for a race car it had a 4 banger and a 250 in it.

Pulled from the interwebs

"The THM250 is a derivative of the TH 350 and was introduced in 1974 in Chevrolets as a Powerglide replacement. Internally, the THM250 is a TH 350 without the intermediate clutch pack. Instead, it has a band adjuster similar to the Powerglide. After being phased out for the TH 200/200C. It was reintroduced in 1979 as the THM250C in the wake of the failure-prone THM200/200C.
Gear Ratio for the TH 250 and 250CC: 1st: 2.52.1; 2nd: 1.52.1; 3rd: 1.00.1; Reverse: 2.07.1"

One less clutch pack - no intermediate sprag - planetarys w/ 2 pinions is a lot of (whoop-dy do) - which would you rather have.
