I swapped the 3.8 for a olds 350 as many of you know, but i kept my th250 trans (for now). I have a few questions about adjusting it so it shifts right.

First question, is it a t.v. or kickdown cable?

Secondly, how do i adjust it?

Right now, I have it so that there is no slack in the cable when the linkage is at the "idle" position. Once i get to around 45-50 mph (second gear I'm guessing) it doesnt want to shift up at all.

I also did a little reading, and saw that this transmission does not need the computer to controll it. Is that true? I have no computer at all right now.

Damn... Nobody??

The best way to adjust it is to get a TH350, but since you don't have one yet: first of all yes it's not computer controlled, Next it a kick down cable (t.v. cable are on 200r4's and 700r4's) third that cable should have a tab you pull up, this releases the tension. then open the throttle all the way and then pushed the tab back down bingo adjusted. hope that helps

okay. I'm assuming the "tab" is the D shaped button near the end of the cable.

I looked up other trans' and the ones that had the D shaped button and slider were TV cable trannys... I'm still not sure on what to do really. I guess just reset it and adjust it so there is no slack like I have it now??

yes it is the D shaped button, just push it and put alittle more slack in the cable it seems alittle tight and that will cause it to not want it to shift right

Just found this picture of when it was hooked up correctly on the v6. Should i use the button to adjust it or can is just slide it forward using my adjustable linkage?

Use the button, the cable should be adjust or at full length @ WOT. so pulll it up hold your throttle open @ WOT and push the button back down down while holding the throttle open at WOT.

Alright I'll try that then. I'm pretty sure thats how it is now though. I'll just try to mess with it and see if i can get it.
