You may all call me an idiot for this, but did G-Bodies ever get the TH350? I got under the car and found it says MX2. Upon google-ing this, it seems that means it's a TH350C, but I didn't know it was available with a TH350. Any information to enlighten a naive kid would be greatly appreciated
(edit, TH350-C)

They did but was listed as RPO M38 on the build sheets & SPID stickers. I got a few of those Chevy resto packs that has all the then new car stuff with the AMA spec sheets, listing the TH350 (pre CCC) & TH350C (CCC) as assembly line options. Even with MX2 being listed, their should be a transmission type RPO.

Would this mean it's not an original transmission? I can't seem to find MX2 or M38 in the RPO codes I found

Not really, only way to tell check the M** RPO codes to see what was put in. Can't remember what the RPO for TH250. I believe that all 3 speeds had the MX2 to i.d. them as such. Do you have the build sheet?

Nope. All I have is a few codes from the Cowl tag, some Les Schwab reciepts, and the list of parts/service for the motor rebuild from 1999.

When you get a chance, check on top of the head liner board to see if one is there (if it is the original.) My '81 Monte had one there & on the top of the gas tank. Also it was built at the Leeds, KS plant. Other plants might of put them in other places like the rear seat springs. The cowl wouldn't help with transmission i.d.

Greetings Guys; Yes TH350's were installed in some. My 9C1 (cop car), LM1 (350 cu in) has one. And I was under the assumption that any wagon with the LM1 got TH350 trans, Also many dealers installed the TH350 as the lighter trans (TH250?) failed so ofter that GM was out of spare transimissions & parts to repair or replace the lighter unit. Fact, my dad's 78 Regal fried the lighter unit and the dealer installed a TH350 from the a bone yard as their was a wait even for a TH350 at the time. Check out my build sheet in my for sale post. Bob Jr.

i have a th250c and have been looking for a th350c but they are few and far between
what does everyone think about putting a th350 in instead of a th350c?

You won't have the lock up on the torque converter if you use a TH350, and if your computer is gone there is no use for a TH350C. As for the factory 350 cars, they only had the TH350s for auto shift.
