I got a new th350 and I'm trying to install the shifter cable , but it looks awkward , can anybody tell me if I'm doing it right ,
It's an 85 elcamino ss btw

It look like the bracket is upside down. The tab that the cable end is attached to should swing from the bottom, not the top like you have it. It also looks like an aftermarket part, not OE.http://www.dixierestorationdepot.com/Product/Detail.aspx?s=DM00113 REPRO&d=1083&p=1

You also need the cable hold down bracket that bolts to the pan. It appears missing. http://www.dixierestorationdepot.com/Product/Detail.aspx?s=DM00414&d=1083&p=2

The cables for a 200-4R and TH 350 are in fact different.

I also found this thread online. I think it will help you somewhat. http://www.nastyz28.com/forum/showthread.php?t=177274

I knew something wasn't right . I still have the stock shift linkage from the 200 , should I swap them out .

200 as in 200-4R, or 200 metric? And was it also used with a floor shift before?

The linkage from the selector forward will be the same. The cable and pan bracket will be different between a TH350 and a 200-4R.

200 metric was the transmission I had before , since the 200 and th350 are both 3 speed I guess the same shifter cable would work , and yes it was being used with the stock floor shifter

Yes, I believe the cable and brackets for a 200 metric would be the same as a TH350.
Try picking up TH350 pan bracket, unless you still have your original one.. and reposition that selector bracket and you should be good to go.

Do you also plan to reinstall the linkage from the selector to the column shift arm? If so, you might also want to replace the oblong bushings.

Are you using an OE shifter or aftermarket...like B&M, Hurst, etc? The reason I ask is because of the neutral safety switch function and backup lights.
