I was considering swapping trans and i have a few questions before i try... I have a chevy 350 i think its a early 70s model and posi 3.73
My questions:
1. What will i need other than the trans, coverter, dipstick, and trans fluid?
2. Will i have to buy a specific trans to bolt up to my motor?
Can someone please help and i also found a 700r just click the link and tell me if i should pass on it

You will need a different crossmember and also your driveshaft will have to be cut 3". With the 700r4 swap you will also need different carb brackets as well.....

Ok so is it ok to buy the 1 in the link and get it rebuilt or is it better to go buy a new 1?

You would be better off buying one from a transmission shop as it will be under warranty...or buy the one in the thread and see how much it would cost to have that one rebuilt..It all depends on how much you want to spend is all...

For 75$, I'd go for it. If you get it rebuilt by a shop, they will still put a warranty on it anyway whether its one of theirs or the one in the link. I'm in the same boat at the moment trying to find a shop to rebuild a 700r4 I picked up. Luckily the guy gave me the 4 speed megashifter and correct cut driveshaft when I bought it from him. The crossmember will need to be moved further back and depending on what year your car is, you might need frame extensions to mount your crossmember. I haven't got to this point yet.

Depending on where your living at...my guy at Kevin Ryan at R and R Transmission in Olean, NY will be building me a 700r4 next month as I am going with this swap also...anyways, he'll build it for $750.00 and that's with a one year warranty......He told me it'll be good for 600 hp.. You got lucky with the driveshaft already...I have to get the original shaft cut 3". BUt I actually will take the stock driveshaft to Fleet Pride and have them use the original as a template and make me a new one ....the original th 350 yoke will also fir the 700 r4. Don't forget depending on the carb your running, will need a geometry corrector and brackets as well......

That price doesn't include the stall converter .....for around $275.00 you can get a decent 3,000 rpm converter... 🙂

The car is a 85 regal but i will go look at the cost of gettin 1 rebuilt in a lil and see if they will provide a warranty... thanks for the info guys..
