Well, It seems I missed a car on my list of People's Cars. The new Tata Nano!! Yes, those fun-loving Indians have come up with what may be the cheapest (adjusted for inflation) new car ever produced. It costs just 100,000 Rupees (about $2500 US) and umm...yeah. 4 wheels AND and engine.

Here's the story on it:http://jalopnik.com/343003/the-2500-tata-nano-unveiled-in-india

i would rock one as a daily to and from work, then come home and romp on the g bodies! they cant go too fast. my only worry is some dumb *ss in a huge suv hitting me at high speed. you would be toast! 50 mpg means nothing when you are dead

There is no way that thing is going to sell for only $2500 here in the U.S.

......and if it is, let me know where I can get one right now

I hope the regals cool enough to offset buying that ugly thing. cuz for $2500, damn its worth it. Looks like i could park on my front porch.

Considering that it doesn't meet US safety or emissions laws, that's probably a pretty good bet.

actually it did from what i read....

54MPG fine , but what if there's someone in the car? i am willing to bet that it is nowhere near legal in the US for full use. it might be legal for limited use though. there are open doored electric "golf carts" that are legal on back roads but not highways. but that is what it's built for. instead of 4 people at once on a moped or dirt bike.
