Every so often when I get bored or pissed off at the code I'm writing I'll remember to try and find a certain car. The first G-Body that my dad "made better" and I got to help with when I was like 12-15 yrs old. And I think I finally found it.

It was a '79 Malibu Station wagon, factory 4-speed, factory black bucket seat vinyl interior.... Had like 20k-something miles on it when we got it, with an already-tired 267. This was back around the mid-80's. So the car was still fairly new.

That 267 got pulled in favor of a 402 big block. 4-core radiator, 115mph police-order speedo + tach cluster.... SS chin spoiler.... Got sold in the late 80's during a big GTO resto project. Between this car, the GP403, and a couple others we had, this is where the idea for starting the site came from! (Actually was hoping it would turn up on here first! "wait by the river long enough", etc.)

I think this is it. If its not then someone has recreated it exactly. If ANYONE knows this guy, somewhere in WI (glad to see its still close!), badger him to sell it back to me!  (get it? WI, badger, har har ) I've sent him a msg via youtube, and invited him on over here, but have yet to hear back, so who knows....

It's looking a bit faded but not that worse for wear after 20yrs...

(go to about 1:04 in this one)

That would be pretty cool if it IS the car. I've ran across a few previously owned cars of mine in the past but with disappointment 😢 , one being a beautiful '81 Regal. The guy that bought it trashed it.

Nice wagon. Factory sport interior with a 4-spd... cool. I could see why you'd like to have it back...especially with the big block and Muncie 4-spd...besides the nostalgic aspect.

Sweet wagon! That'd be awesome if you were able to get it back.

The guy that bought my first El Camino brought the car back up to the station I worked at a few weeks later and he had painted the driver side 1/4 (I had done some body work) at it looked pretty good.
It was pretty rusty underneath when I sold it back in '02, and I'd be suprised it if was still on the road.
If it's still out there, it'd be fun to see it...

Its confirmed, it is the one. Still has the same dent in the hood where my aunt landed an errant golf ball (not a good day in our household then, if you get my drift).... Not for sale, though (yet). But its just good to know that someone hasn't "improved" it by putting it up on 22's or rusty cragars, put a 3" cowl hood, ladder bars and a big stupid tach on the dash, tacked a bunch of other aftermarket crap on it or wrapped it around a tree.... Know what I mean? I think its in good hands.
