You can't fix stupid. It's obvious who ever was behind the wheel didn't know what he was doing let alone handle power. Back to Ocean City - have them call the Motor City if they want to know how to run a cruise. There is at least 2 cruises every night of the week, the grand daddy being the Woodward Cruise (around a million and a half people and around 400,000 cars) Here are some of the biggies

Exactly what I mean-

Everything is dangerous, including swimming in the ocean and flying. I'd prefer to stand on a sidewalk and watch burnouts rather than do either of the previously mentioned.

My point is not a public safety issue, but rather that OC is discriminating against the H2Oi crowd. It's described in the article attached that they are really only concerned about kicking out one of the six car shows. Keep in mind that they have had major incidents at the other (old guys' shows) in the last two years and none of any consequence at the young people's shows.

I'm with lilbowtie - learn how to run a show. It was mentioned in the article about having events at local tracks - drag racing, drifting, burnout contests, etc - ALL out of town, but the conversation was not entertained. As far as I'm concerned, if I ever return to OC it will be with a at least one set of spare tires in the trunk during H20i. To heck with those elitists!

Regarding the Mustang fail - daddy bought him the car and forgot the driving lessons - I'll bet he needs 4WD to navigate in the snow as well.

Sure everything is dangerous, but that's hardly an excuse. Look, I've got no problem doing burnouts, racing, drifting, etc. in an appropriate environment like a drag strip, an SCCA event, or a burnout pit at a cruise. But doing these things on the street and unnecessarily endangering others out of one's own ignorance is where I have an issue. The street is not a controlled environment, there are so many factors that can't be accounted for- other vehicles, road conditions, pedestrians. These things aren't a factor on a track. Its just too easy to have an accident. You can say "It won't happen to me" and that's what they all say until it does happen to them. Paul Walker might not be dead if it weren't for that kind of reckless driving.

Since the creation of cars, people have been trying to outdo each other. Period. And every year since the automobile was created it has happened on public streets and everyone here has done it, regardless of age, IQ, social beliefs. If you find it unsafe and unappealing later in life, so be it, but it will continue to happen even if the idiots in power deem it "unsafe" for public consumption. The idiots that took away cruising because of accidents and riff-raff ruined the way for American teens to have a natural life with actual personal interaction and fostered this stupid "social" environment we call the internet.

I'm bitching on the internet, about cars, yep, this is what the car culture has come to.

R.I.P.

I have a feeling you may feel guilty about something, don't push that on others. Anyone here can die tomorrow from some dick head texting on a phone, how does that make it any better/worse than someone's car that got away from them? Both took a chance with other's lives to accomplish a goal whether it was an emoji or a burnout.

The only person that can judge Paul, is Paul. NOBODY knows what really happened, only what the internet told us.

Stupid stunts pulled on the street happen but unless they end badly they are just that, a stunt. Speeding one mile over the speed limit and killing someone is still the same as speeding 30mph over the limit and killing someone, both are illegal in the eyes of the law, there is no sliding scale yet everyone does it. Zero difference for any shenanigans pulled by any automobile enthusiast at any point in their life.

To your first point, I don't feel guilty about anything, and I'm honestly confused as to where you got that idea. Texting and driving is wrong too, however that's an entirely different issue, and it's not what we are discussing. Someone showing off and having their car get away from them is totally avoidable. Why would you condone reckless behavior in the name of acting immature?

To your second point, we know excessive speed was a factor in the Paul Walker crash.

And to your third point, if you kill someone going the speed limit (+/- 5 mph) it's manslaughter. If you kill someone going 30 over, it is not only manslaughter, but usually it is also reckless driving- Not the same in the eyes of the law. Even still, I'm not talking about the law, I'm talking about morals, and I think it's morally wrong to (unnecessarily) take even the slightest possibility of hurting some innocent bystander because you wanted to do a burnout. Do it at the track, where you are in a controlled environment and everyone around is aware of the risks.

That's all, I'm done now.

I heard the one in May is not what it used to be. Five years ago it was great. I haven't be there for like 3 years but had a good time before it got to crazy. This video below happened to take place right outside of my hotel room that night. It was awesome, I'm not going to lie.
