This is the main reason I decided to go Chevy in my olds. I saw 6k on a reg basis and sometimes higher. On my cammed olds 350 I got really good at swapping rocker guides lol
I am sure my current #6 heads would work fine with tons of 6K blasts, screw in studs, guide plates, full roller rockers, dual springs, big valves and porting, the original cast pistons, not so much. I am swapping since that is not my intent with my 350. There is a 403 and TH350 but it is a far drive but is still tempting for the 88, the heads mentioned would be perfect.

Oddly pistons were one area I never had issues with on my old olds 350. I guess its possible it had aftermarket

The factory parts were good but 40 year old cast pistons are a crap shoot at high rpm and even the 350's bottom end parts are on the heavy side. I still stand by till the windowed main version, it was GM's most reliable 350. I still find near perfect mid 70's Olds 350's for cheap.

My 350 came from a friends 72 cutlass that he 455 swapped. It had a hairy cam in it so its possible other work was done. Ended up losing oil pressure on it
